Thirty years after 1996 welfare reform—and following H.R.1’s harmful exclusions of many immigrants from health and nutrition programs last year—too many families are still forced to choose between food, rent, and health care. The LIFT the BAR Act aims to reverse these restrictions and restore access to basic needs for immigrant families. On this call, partners will: - Get a high-level overview of the bill, including new provisions to reverse immigrant eligibility restrictions from H.R.1 - Understand the current policy landscape and why advocacy now matters - Learn core messaging and tools to engage policymakers - Take action by endorsing the bill and urging co-sponsorship
